Little Bear and University Preschools would not be able to operate for over 20 years if we didn’t have wonderful, dedicated teachers on our staff. Children learn in their own ways and our Reno preschool staff can adapt to create unique and helpful lesson plans.

Teacher Appreciation Week In Washoe County

Teacher appreciation is always in order because they do so much for their students. From providing structure throughout the day to helping them understand the concept of what school is, these foundational skills are incredibly necessary.

By providing students with the ideal early childhood education, care and one-on-one attention they need, the work of a preschool teacher is a special and important skill. Through fun lesson plans, learning about problem solving and language skills through games, exercise, storytelling, experiments, art, music, or play is proven to work.

At Little Bear Preschool, we offer a Toddler Program for two-year-olds to help them with learning  early social skills, self-help skills and foundational literacy development. Our Reno preschool program is for ages 3 and up, while building upon those skills and learning math, science, dramatic play, and an introduction to the manuscript alphabet. The final program, known as Kindergarten Readiness, is designed to teach ages 4-5 more about language arts, social studies, and other Pre-K learning standards. Once students have mastered those concepts, they’re ready for preschool graduation!

We love working with our early childhood educators and observing their passion for teaching and helping young children grow in and out of the classroom. Our child care teams work to create an enriching and welcoming environment for children to play, explore, connect, discover, and thrive. We closely follow the Early Learning Guidelines or ELG, outlined by Washoe County and the state of Nevada. Nevada Ready! is a state program provided by a grant to help with young minds as they develop skills that will help them successfully transition to kindergarten.

Preschool teachers at Little Bear create fun and engaging activities that support early childhood development: thinking, participating, having fun and learning at this age is so important for success!

Our teachers also understand that children learn and develop at their own pace and in their own way. This has helped them learn various teaching methods and practices that will most effectively help your child learn and grow. By implementing the ELG state standards into our programs, we’re able to have the best preschool in Reno and Sparks, NV by providing your child with the necessary skills and confidence that will help them reach new milestones throughout their life. These pre-k standards focus on fun topics like creative arts, language and literacy, math, health and physical development, science, history and social studies.

Physical activity at a young age is a critical factor for setting up children for a more active lifestyle as they grow older. Efforts to implement physical education are on the rise again in Reno preschools and Little Bear is no exception. By helping to foster a love of play, our teachers are making a difference in the lives of these young students.
